Stockwell Skatepark

When planning my Estate of being project, pne of the estates that I had planned on visiting was the Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham, North London. My gravitation towards the estate stemmed from the Broadwater Farm Riot of 1985. This was a ot in which a police offer, PC Keith Blakelock, was attacked and killed by a group of up to 40 residents nearly being decapiotated in the process. All of the estates that I had been to or had planned to go to were estates in which stabbings and murdrs had taken place, however, as tragic as these events are, they are nothing surprising for me or for anyone else growing up in Greater London. However, riots are something which seldom take place and the near-decapitation of a police officer was somethign that left me in awe and I decided that I wanted to visit the estate to conduct a photo-shoot. However, at this point, I was worried that the project was becoming too long and that I was going to continue photographing council estates putting them under the moniker of the 'Estate of Being' project.  Due to this, I decided not to go to the estate as paert of the project and decdied to elave the idea for a photo-shoot for the time being.

During the six week holidays, I had to attend work in leytonstone, North East London, which is fairly close to Tottenham. Afte4r work one day, I left to go to Ilford and saw the bus `123 which goes direcdtly to Tottenham Hale Station. I immediately got off the bus and hopped on the 123 to go to Tottenham. Going to Broadwater Farm was not originally my plan, but from Tottenham Hale, it is possible to see the Kenley and Northolt blocks of the estate, so i proceeded to walk along Tottenham High Road towards the estate. After catching a bus, I ended up in the centre of the estate.

Out of all the states that I had photograhped up until, this point, Broadwater Farm was by far the most beautiful. The general grey colour scheme of the estate with the subtle blues and yellows to juxtapose it was aesthetically appealing to me. It was also the estate that I felt the most uncomfortable in. When walking through the main thoroughfare of the state, I received many
