I decided to go on the microblogging, social network known as Tumblr in order to search for some inspiration for my photography. While searching, I came across a .GIF image. The image has a string of characters in Japanese and the translation beneath it reads 'white is not always light and black is not always dark'. The fish in the .GIF image swim around each other perpetually inverting their colours at every iteration. This gavge m,e inspiration to take some photos and distort the images via converting them to grey scale and inverting the tone so that the light parts became dark and the dark parts became light. After I conducted a bit of research, I found out that this process is known as 'solarisation' and is reasonably easy to achieve in Adobe Photoshop. In order to solarise my photos the way that I did, I first increased the contrast so that there would be a greater difference between the light and dark tones in my photo. I then clicked on Filters >> Stylise >> Solarise in order to solarise it. Lastly, I put a gradient map on top of the immges and adjusted them as I saw fit.
